The Guinness Toast

For years, I never missed the Great Guinness Toast. 

But times and priorities change and we get married and have kids.

And although the specific date of this great event remains a constant uncertainty - either February 13th, of the 3rd Friday in February - I missed it.  So feel free to buy me one this Saturday at the North Dakota at DU game!

We recently had a right wing (who runs over female players, lives for post-game showers, and is probably our career leader in fights) miss a Sunday night game.  Now I am not saying who it is, but the next night the AVS were getting drubbed on TV and I looked up and saw the picture below - WTF?

2010 Charity Hockey Tournament

Yes, oh yes - the Steamer represented again this year.  Tournament recap:

MVP - Bada Bing with 5 goals, 2 were game winners, and missed work to keep drinking, all of which probably excused what The Mesmerizer called "crying like a bee-yotch" when he hurt his knee.  

And we had a Dr. try to get the pussy-whippedness out of him...but it did not work. 

Worst story - Bada Bing's sprained knee and CWebb's back re-aggravation.

We did see CWebb drink beers though, so that is a plus.  Beers consumed - too many to count.  Between period "breaks" - only 5, a new low.

Shocker award - Slim Shady who had this great shoot-in...

...but was witness to a bad "shoot-out" as a chick dropped a nose-scorching grumpy in the stall next to him while he took a pre-game leak.

Best story - The Mesmerizer played great all weekend and told wild tales of visiting the elephants at the zoo or something like that.

Co-MVP - Boris the Blade - great weekend in net, set up a plan to avoid having to start his car with alcohol-free breath, and and actually brought a chick to a game.

Prize winner - JQ - big time haul of alcohol.

Game # 1 - we dominated, but lost 2-1 (Jason).

Game # 2 - we were drunk, played a better team and won 6-5 . Scoring: Jason x3, young Joey Samudio, E5, and Bada Bing. (Bada Bing with the game winner with 15 seconds left).

Game # 3 - played like we were sore and hung-over - lost 7-1 (Bada Bing). We did ogle the Red Bull girls at a championship level though.

Game # 4 - we looked iffy after 5 hours of between game beer drinking. But we rallied and got a really good no-goal call in a 5-3 win (Bada Bing x3 and another game winner, Professor, and Tripod).

Q:  What is better than post-game cigars and scotch? 
A:  Nothing - and there was much rejoicing!

Fu Manch Sunday

The legendary day was celebrated in classic red-neck fashion....first with a short bench on the ice.

Then the perfect venue - a Chevy truck - for beers and beef jerky.

The pimp got a picture for the "alleged" sponsor who shockingly missed the event.

The partcipants represented in proper fashion and included:  The Infidels,

The semi-participants - some city-folk - fans of that damn book-learnin',

Goofy rednecks,

some scary hillbillies,

and of course the two Uncles your Mom warned you about - Chester the Molester and crazy Cletus! 

And there was much rejoicing!

Members of the Steam represent at E5's bachelor party at the Ginn Mill.  A disgruntled "Howitzer" did stay and drink.  I'm not sure if he jogged to a bus later.

NHL Opening Night

Last Thursday was the NHL's opening night. The Summer is over (I think we covered that) and another dreadfully long off-season ended.

Last year the AVS opener was against the Bruins. The Versus Network - who had already showed their love of the Steamer with a special cameo of 'The Nutty Brothers' - was in attendance again.

So, in October of 2008 Versus continued the love promoting three more Steamer members (Tripod, Chowdah, and The Prof) on television after Blake Wheeler's first NHL goal - look at the 18-20 second mark of this video.

So, check this out ......every summer one our speedy wingers (could be anybody) misses a couple of games during the summer. Who knew that he was out excelling at beer drinking during and after another sport.
