A collection of finishers?

How do you get them all together in one place, at one time?  Just start serving beers!

Steamer season wrap-up

Well, the winter season was a tough one.  Nevertheless, the Steam won a playoff game and was then knocked out in a loss to the # 1 seed in an 11-9 barn-burner.
The Prof had a great season and led the Steam in goals (17), Star of the game points (40) and tied for the points lead (21).  A nice way to sail into marriage, where his scoring will inevitably decrease - HEY-OH!  Trust us, we know!
Points: Prof and Harlan with 21; E5 with 14; Dr. Detroit with 11; and 5 guys with 6 (Chowdah, T-Pod, Sgt. Schultz, Howitzer and C-Webb).
Goals: Prof with 17; Harlan with 14; E5 and Dr. D with 6; Tripod with 4).
Helpers: E5 with 8; Harlan 7; Sarge 6; Dr. D, Howitzer and C-Webb with 5.
Star of the game points: Prof 40; Boris the goalie 29; Harlan 19; Dr. D 13; E5 with 11; C-Webb 10; Bada Bing 9; and Sarge with 8.5 or so.
Despite the tough season I think we did lead the league in suspensions and post-game beers.  Nice!

Fall season in review

Well the Steam advances to the Final 4 but lost in the semis 4-6 (w/ an ENG).  Anyway, a really good 7-2-1 regular season, and then 1-1 in the playoffs.  Since they do not always show up on the stats, mad props to the D-Men and the goaltender hodge-podge where Chub Rock and Chuck Woolery combined for a 4.25 GAA.

In less than shocking news Harlan Pepper claimed another scoring title.

The leaders....

Points: Harlan 31; Chippendales 23; E5 and Dr. Detroit 21; Chowdah Storm 14; T-Pod 10.
Goals: Chippendales 18 (including 3, 4, & 5 goal games); Harlan 17 (w/ a 4-goal game); Dr. Detroit 10; Chowdah 9 (led w/ 2 GWG); E5 w/ 7.
Helpers: E5 (3 playmakers) and Harlan (1 pm) w/ 14; Dr Detroit 11; T-Pod 8 (1 pm); Slim Shady 7.
Star of the game points: Harlan 28; Chip 25; E5 w/ 18; Chowdah 15; Dr. D 14; Chuck Wollery 13; Chub 10; The Prof 8; Slim Shady and Ollie w/ 7.5.

Props and dates (part 1)

A while back we gave props when three members of The Steamer reached the 100 career goal mark . We also meant to also give props when the career leader moved into the 200 goal club.
So - belatedly - lets take a moment to say "nice work on 200 goals", and - in a timely fashion - say Happy B-Day to E5!

First goal of the season - Fall '09

This guy is on a roll. Gets his name on the Lord Steamer Trophy at the golf tournament for the first time in September, adds to his impressive career-lead for on-ice yakking in October, and then scores the first goal of the Fall season. Who else, but The Natural Goal scorer!

Summer Stats

The Summer season came to a disappointing - and late - conclusion. Nevertheless, we want to give out the kudos.

First off, much thanks to our keeper Matt (3 wins and 3.67 GAA) and our Defensive Corps of Adam, Chris, JVR, John, Mike and Randy (2 goals - nice!) - plus the occasional sub. These guys don't always show up on the score sheet, but they bust arse and battle the ringer-fest our league has become.
Scoring: a tie for the scoring title between E5 and Harlan Pepper who both had 20 points in 10 games.
Goals: HP with 14 (1 hat), The Prof with 7, E5 and The Howitzer with 5, and the Tripod with 4.
Helpers: E5 with 15 (1 play-maker), Prof 7, HP 6, Chowd with 4; K-Pax, Toast, and TP with 3.
Other: HP with 2 GTG, The Prof with 2 GWG (Howie and TP with 1), Chip with 3.0 ppg.
Star of the Game points: HP with 25; E5 with 22; Matt with 20; The Prof with 17; and The Howitzer with 16 (including a team leading 3 # 1 stars of the game, and the only on-ice yak of the season)!

Nice work boys, let's get ready for the Fall season.

Spring '09

Well, the Steamer had a great Spring season despite a tough championship game loss 4-2 (w/ an empty netter). Regardless, a nice 10-4 overall record and landmark statistical season as 9 players had at least 9 points.

Harlan Pepper (pictured) again led the way with 32 points in 13 games. Also: Bada Bing 23, The Prof 18, E5 16, Chip 15, Sgt. Schultz 14, Chowdah 13, Tripod 11, Howitzer 9.

Goals: HP 19, Prof 12, Chip 10, Bada 9, E5, Sarge, Chowdah, and Tripod with 5 each.

Helpers: Bada 14, HP 13, E5 11, Sarge 9, Howie and Chowdah 8.

Chub obviously led keeper stats with an 8-3 record and a 4.55 GAA.

Star of the Game points: HP 27; Chub Rock 25; Bada 23; Prof 22; E5 19.

Nice work as well by the stay-at-home D-Men and grinders who didn't put up a lot of points but really represented when it came to locker room philosophy and excessive nudity! Nice!

First goal of the Winter 2009 season....

....goes to Chippendale's. Now get out there and get some elbow pads and start looking at composite sticks for god sakes!

Fall scoring champion...

....and the winner is...........shocker - Harlan Pepper! Looking very Swedish, this Mats Naslund fan led the STEAMER in goals with 12 (E5 and Chip had 7, Prof with 6, T-Pod and Bada with 5, NGS and Chowdah with 4); assists with 11 (E5 had 10, Dieter with 7, Prof and Slim with 5); and obviously points with 23 in 12 games.

HP also led in Star of the Game points with 27. Chub had 22, E5 with 21, Bada Bing with 17 and Chippendale's and the Natural Goal Scorer had 13.
Can I get a Raka-Chaka?

The Century mark?

In the Spring season this triumvirate of manliness (Pepper, The Tripod, and The Professor) all passed the 100 career goals mark to join E5 in that select company.
Shane evoked memories of his boyhood idol, William Shatner, when he explained his feelings about the achievement........

First goal of the Summer 2008 season.....

Huh? Well, with the move to C-3, Chippendale's (Blake) with the first goal of the new era! We also saw that his Son has some pretty impressive moves as well.

First goal, and hat trick, of the Summer 2008 season.....

Scored by this big lummox. The Tripod - god is he sexy, and smart looking!

Congratulations...again...

To # 47, Center, Jason K who led the Steamer in Spring scoring (seen here with a fat lip from a puck in the first Summer game). In 13 games, Almond Joy put up 13 goals and 24 helpers for 37 points en route to the scoring title.
The goal title went to The Professor with 17 (E5 had 15 and Ditka 13) including a team leading 3 hat tricks.
The Professor, E5 and Kris Kringle each had 2 game winning goals.
The Star of the Game point total was: Chub 30; Almond Joy 29; E5 26; The Prof 25 and Ditka 24 (nice tight race).

Mad props to all!

Congratulations....

...to the Winter season scoring leader # 47 - Jason "Almond Joy" Ketchum. Despite wearing the hat of the hated Canadiens to several games, he had another impressive outing leading the team in every category except assists (E5 had 11) and game winning goals (Ditka had 3). AJK with 30 points on 21 goals and 9 assists, including 5 hat tricks - in 12 games. Nicely done!
