Mad love for LaBarbera?

Whether or not you are a fan of the Phoenix Coyotes - or wherever they re-locate (hey) - or a fan of Jason LaBarbera, you have to love his goalie mask. 

Since he is in Phoenix he opted for a tribute to former NFL Player and ARMY Ranger Pat Tillman.  Pretty cool! 

The hockey gods watched, and all is right in the hockey world!

In case you missed it, the USA beat Canada for the Gold Medal in the World Junior Championships Tuesday night in Saskatoon (yes, really). 

The USA gave up two late goals to Cananda that sent the game into OT tied at 5-5.

John Carlson scored this game winner in overtime!  The team included DU D-man Matt Donovan and incoming DU recruit Jason Zucker. 

Congrats to the boys!

I think "The Best Damn Sport Show, Period" totally sucks. And although it is a mockery, of a travesty, of a sham, that they left Jessica Alba off of this (literally) Sweet Sixteen, this bracket is a cool idea loaded with hotties!

Tributes to Americans - Dennis Leary

I'm sensing a pattern here with another chowderhead. Nevertheless, Dennis Leary is a quality guy who hosts an annual charity hockey game where proceeds go to the Boston Fire Department. He is a comedian, a hockey player and has dated Elizabeth Hurley!!!!

He plays a Fireman on the TV show "Rescue Me." Some of his other quality work includes play-by-play at a Red Sox game and a very well done Comedy Central commercial.

Tributes to Americans - Tom Glavine

Yes, he won his 300th game yesterday and you may not be aware that he was an excellent High School hockey player growing up in Boston. He was actually a 4th round draft choice of the L.A. Kings in 1984. You can read about who was drafted after him and why he chose not to play pro hockey here.

Tributes to Americans - Bill Guerin....and the NHL Goal of the Year?

Not shockingly, I usually like NHL players from Boston. Being a rugged scoring winger in that Cam Neeley mold has always made me appreciate Guerin and it is also part of the reason I wear # 13.

He always played on the USA Olympic teams and brought scoring and toughness. Click here for his sweet goal last season.

Tributes to Americans - Brian Rolston

I always loved Brian Rolston's game. I was ecstatic when the AVS got him, and though it didn't work out, loved that he also went from the AVS to the Bruins. Enjoy the blazing speed and wicked shot by clicking on his highlighted name.

This clip is all from his time with the Wild, but it is great. It includes the 2 shootout goals he scored on absolute bomb slapshots. You see them against Luongo and Kiprusoff in the video.

He is also the reason why we have a # 12 on our team - and sort of the reason "The Professor" got that number. Don't get me wrong, I have never seen Shane drink enough beers or hit on enough waitresses to be able to shoot like the picture.......
