And you thought what happened to the North Dakota hat in the Steamer locker room was bad?!?!?

If you were not there for the incident with the Fighting Sioux hat, well.....never mind.  If you have read this blog, you know that completely tasteless and funny are not mutually exclusive.

So, check out this crazy chowderhead.  I can't do the story justice, so please follow the links and read both the Dead Spin (thanks for the pic) and PuckDaddy coverage of this once in a lifetime (?) story.

Merry belated X-Mas...from the Blackhawks!

This is amusing......

Brilliant!

On HBO's 24/7 Rangers at Flyers show they film the Flyers at the Anthem-Booers.  Flyers coach Peter Laviolette gets pissed about what the narrator calls "The Refs being influenced by the home crowd in Montreal.  Wait, no way - that never happens!
Anyway, Laviolette yells at the Refs "Typical Montreal.  This crap always happens in Montreal!"  Mad love to cheapgoalieggear.com for coming up with this t-shirt!

# 1 Star of the week!

Still not sure if this is the dumbest or coolest nickname in the NHL?  Regardless, Brad Marchand is a bad ass!

Top moments in Anthem-Booer history

Maybe your fans take stuff a bit too seriously?  At least Joe Ted made a save on someone!

WTF - is that you Turd Ferguson?

We recently had a right wing (who runs over female players, lives for post-game showers, and is probably our career leader in fights) miss a Sunday night game.  Now I am not saying who it is, but the next night the AVS were getting drubbed on TV and I looked up and saw the picture below - WTF?

Hossa from Kane goal!

Working for charity?

Just a reminder to think of others and be charitable during the holidays.  I love what we do in the Summer with the tournament, but I want to do this some time.

The Calgary Hitmen's charity event - The Teddy Bear toss.  Pretty sweet!  I guess they got 25,000!

For the music fans!

The "Around the NHL in 33 bands" article is here!

Not the former STEAMER player........or is it?

Duchene goal versus Pens

Huh?

Congrats to the Professor

With his 19 goals in the Summer / Fall season, the Professor bacame the 3rd player in Steamer history to pass the 200 career goal mark.  Nicely done!

Does Luongo like Dos Equis?

This just seems mean!

Wrong-ness

They Love it!

Top 25 hockey movies - # 14(a)

Well, like the # 14, I also hate the Montreal Canadiens.  I hear "The Rocket" is good, but I doubt I'll ever see it - unless I am imprisoned in Rick James' basement and he makes me watch it and that terrible Joe Torre, Yankees movie.  Wait, where was I?

Anyway, I heard this was pretty decent as it had real players in the movie.  Among those was Ian Laperrierre - and you have to love that guy.  Let me know if you see it, but watch at your peril - you may start diving and booing anthems!

Urban Dictionary word of the month

How my fantasy football team - Cinnamon Ring Sting - got it's name....

....your definition here.

Huh?

Nothing to do with hockey - but I found this amusing.

Sadness - part 1

So, with the recent move of The Steamer from Big Bear to the South Suburban league, post-game beers at "Milo's" will be few and far between.  As many of you know, I have a Milo's ritual.  It involves scanning the photo collage by the Men's Room on my way back to the table.  I always look at the picture of our former favorite server - the seemingly naughty Sarah - and then look at this famous bikini picture:

It will be missed!

The NFL season...

...is underway.  Time to throw some props to Patriots back-up quarterback Ryan Mallett for his fashion-sense.  Here he is with hot reporter Erin Andrews.

Sadness - part 2

The saddest part of losing Milo's will be the loss of our favorite server - Abby.  In reality, I am not sure she even worked there anymore.

It wasn't just the great personality and excellent service.  It was also the tight jeans that emphasized her fantastic tiny tortoise-shell of an @$$, and her incredibly disproportionally lovely - girthy milk-wagons.

I'm a little teary-eyed, I'm going to need a minute.

NHL Predictions 11-12

So, two years ago I picked the Bruins over the Flyers and Blackhawks over Ducks, with the Hawks and the Bruins over Chicago.  It was Hawks over the classy-fanned Flyers.  Not bad.

Last year I went Wings over Canucks, Lightning over Bruins and Lightning over Wings.   The gloriousness was the Bruins winning!   Ahhhh - basically I am a budding genious or an idiot-savant.

For awards last year:
Hart – Crosby (Ovechkin, Stamkos) - won by Corey Perry
Vezina – Luongo (Rask, Bryzgalov) - won by Tim Thomas
Norris – Doughty (Weber, Green) - won by Nick Lidstrom
Selke - whoops forgot that one - won by Ryan Kesler
Calder – Parjvi (Hall, Carlson – Wash) - won by Jeff Skinner
Adams – Boucher - Tampa (Laviolette - Philly, Q-stache) - won by Dan Bylsma
Rocket – Ovechkin (Stamkos,  Kessel) - won by Corey Perry

I'll give myself another B - for a grade.

For awards this year:

Hart – Toews - Chicago (Giroux, Crosby)
Vezina – Rinne - Nashville (Lundquist, Bryzgalov)
Norris – Weber -Nashville (Keith, Edler)
Selke- Kesler - Vancouver (Datsyuk, P. Bergeron)
Calder – Landeskog - AVS (Brett Connolly - Tampa, Adam Larrsson -NJ)
Adams – Trotz - Nashville (Murray - LA, Laviolette - Philly)
Rocket – C. Giroux (Stamkos, Nash)

Playoffs:
1-Flyers over 8-Rangers
2-Caps over 7-Canes
6-Sabres over 3-Bruins
4-Pens over 5-Lightning

Flyers over Sabres
Pens over Caps

Pens over Flyers

1)      Canucks over  8) Avalanche
2)      Sharks over  7) Ducks
3)      Blackhawks over 6) Predators
4)      Kings over  5) Red Wings

4)      Kings over 1) Canucks
3)      Blackhwaks over 2) Sharks
Blackhawks over Kings

Finals: The Q’stache is back - Blackhawks over Pens (Conn Smythe – Corey Crawford)

Mad love for LaBarbera?

Whether or not you are a fan of the Phoenix Coyotes - or wherever they re-locate (hey) - or a fan of Jason LaBarbera, you have to love his goalie mask.

Since he is in Phoenix he opted for a tribute to former NFL Player and ARMY Ranger Pat Tillman.  Pretty cool!

Top 25 Hockey Movies of all-time....# 14(b)

And # 14(b) is "The Town!"
I know what you are thinking - hockey movie?  Well.......the main character played by Ben Affleck, Doug MacRay, has a hockey background - notice the jacket below.  He is described as a player that had a chance to be a professional, but messed up the opportunity and went into a life of crime.

I read one blogger say that since they are stealing from baseball, it is definitely a hockey movie.  I sort of buy that and the anonymous gesture made at the end of the movie is enough to make this list.

Jeremy Renner is great in the movie, and his character is summed up in one exchange:
Doug MacRay: I need your help. I can't tell you what it is, you can never ask me about it later, and we're gonna hurt some people. James Coughlin (Renner) : ...Whose car are we gonna' take?

While only a 7.7 rating on IMDB (WTF?) - this is a really, really good movie.  Take your time and enjoy this one.

Fu Manchu 2011

Often immitated, but never equaled - Fu Manchu and Beef Jerky Sunday!  The real men who participated:

Honorable mention: Chub with a short growth week after a meeting.

Third place - the cagey veteran - J "Mighty" Q!

Second place - the rook - Josh!  Nice shirt!

Nice group effort for post-game beers!

And the winner: the Hulk-Hogan-esque, Stephen!

Nice work gentlemen!

The only good thing aboout Vancouver!

Spoiler alert - don't open at work!

I liked Vancouver when I visited the city.  Aside from all the pan-handling heroin addicts, beautiful city.

Those green guys are sort of amusing.

Then there was the Steve Moore incident (not pictured).  And then their team acting like bitches - aka acting like tha Canadiens - this year in the playoffs.

But to top it off they blamed the riots in the NHL.  Nice.
But there is one Canuck fan who really get's it - here she is below:

I say "Raka" - you say "Chaka."

The Guardian of the Flame Tournament

Another fun weekend at the tournament, and with a super ballsy effort the Steamer wins their pool at the Guardian of the Flame tournament.

In a couple of weird developments - Joe Quinn was able to get an amendment passed counting tournament goals in the career totals from this year forward; and a lightning storm apparently sent some very demeaning texts out to people. Who knew?
Jason's penalty shot!

Game 1 Saturday afternoon the Steam wins 7-6 as Eric scores on a break-away with 2.5 seconds left for the win. Eric and Shane with 2 goals, Jason with 3.
As Craig would say - guys that drink PBR "are men." As PBR was the only beer supplied this year, and there was 6 hours between games.....game 2 started good, but ended badly in a 7-2 loss. Joey and Shane lit the lamp.
Game 3 - a fresh Steamer looks really tough in an 8-2 win.  Eric with 2, Shane 3, Jason, Stephen, and Joe Quinn with goals.
Jason's amazing shot in Moolky.  Somehow hitting nothing with his throw!

Pool championship against the team that beat us - insane effort from the Steam. Down 2-1, we get two late 2nd period goals to to take a 3-2 lead and hold down the fort in a scoreless 3rd for the win. Shane, Joey, and Eric all get on the board.

The line-up:
Terry (G) - good tourney and great on Saturday in net, despite both knees being swollen like grapefruits. Four goal allowed in the last 2 games made all the difference.

Randy (D) - typically solid, and added stunning levels of beer drinking and nudity that would have made Frank and Reegan proud.

Josh (D) - all over the place on the ice, nice effort. Still a Wings fan though!

Brian (D) - solid three games at wing and defense and was the only guy that could silence the locker room by telling us he'd miss the last game due to a Sarah Maclachlan concert. It took a while for us to realize he was serious.

Ted (D) - late sub (Thanks Shane) who is a chowderhead and typically the best D-man in our C-3 league (maroon breezers on the Buzzards). A very solid addition.

Joe Quinn (D) - played defense, center and wing. Nice versatility, amendment and goal.

Stephen (W) - big winner in the raffle, nice goal on Saturday morning and great hustle on the game winner in the championship.

Frank (W) - off skates for a while, still looked solid and had the beautiful pass to Eric for the championship goal.
Bill (W) - quality work on the weekend playing the grinder role on a skill line.
Joey (W) - nice weekend with 2 goals including the game-tying goal in the final.
Jason (C) - typically great all weekend with 5 goals, shook off an obvious concussion in the final and played superb defense - made the play on Joey's tying goal.
Joe W. (W) - played a simple game, get puck and pass to Shane. Also dominated the classic parking lot game Moolky!
Shane (W) - gets the GM award for recruiting Ted, and oh yeah, added 7 goals on the weekend. Also nice enough to write "glory hole" on his payment check!
Eric (C) - probably our MVP of the weekend as he had about 7 or 8 assists, and 4 goals -including both game-winners in the one-goal games. Nice work E-5!
Nice work boys. Great weekend and our first title at the tourney!
Team Steam:

Guardian of the Flame charity hockey Tournament (raising money for Special Olympics) -
Standing: Ted,
Jason, Stephen, Randy, Joe Q., Josh, Bill, Joey, and Terry.
Kneeling: Frank, Olympian Zatz, Brian,
Eric, Joe W., Shane  , Olympian Haldon.

What Tim Thomas said?

Commentary from the Vezina, Conn Smythe, and Stanley Cup winner?

Congrats....

...to # 16 - Chowdah on his 100th goal.  As he said "It was as beautiful as the last 99."  Nice!  Here he is making a friend.

Bolland goal
