The Hottie in the Box
The former "Beer League" guys are now referred to as "The Down Holers." This video seems tremendously appropriate for our summer hockey season.
Other hockey venues
Here is a pic from my seats at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC for the 2009 NCAA Frozen Four. My seats weren't the greatest, but the game was - the Boston University Terriers scored two goals in the final minute of regulation to tie it at 3-3 and then won in overtime. College hockey is only 6 weeks away!
NHL 08-09 Goal of the year - candidate # 14
Some of us saw this goal at Milo's - Jonathan Cheechoo with this marker against the Ducks.
A change of seasons
So, the summer is coming to an end. Time to reflect back on the summer and pool toys.
He's a star?
So, check this out ......every summer one our speedy wingers (could be anybody) misses a couple of games during the summer. Who knew that he was out excelling at beer drinking during and after another sport.

My Top 10 favorite goals - # 4
This is a no-brainer - June 10, 1996. I know you are thinking that ranking seems low. While this goal did come at the end of an amazing - previously scoreless - triple-overtime game, it was a bit anti-climactic. By that I mean that the AVS had a 3-0 game lead in the series and it was clear that they were the much better team. Winning The Cup was inevitable, and some of us - especially people like me who had game 5 tickets - were sort of hoping for the win on home ice.Nevertheless.....the AVS had pressure and were buzzing the net. Florida tried a weak clear up the boards that was knocked down by Uwe Krupp. And as much as I was always lukewarm on Krupp and his game, he did what you should always do in O.T. - he put the puck on net. Of course, I don't need to tell you who had the screen on the Beezer - as the picture indicates.
And so it was, Denver had it's first major championship. All of us Avalanche fans (and ticket holders) had a reason to celebrate. As a hockey fan, this is one of those special moments you live for.

Welcome back....
NHL 08-09 goal of the year - candidate # 13
Yeah, it's gonna be tough to top this one from the playoffs. Alexander the Great with this preposterous goal!
Firrst goal or the season...
Went to this wayward traveller. After scoring no goals in the tournament he scored on his first shift of the new season.......you could say he was on fire. Hey-oh!Surely, you can't be serious.........but seriously, all of his stuff got incinerated. I hope that stick that always seemed to miss the net didn't get torched! But really, best of luck Bada Bing!
School getting back under way....
Since the STEAMER is loaded with educators - excelling both, in formal, and informal settings - here is our "Good luck with the new school year and getting back into the rhythm" moment!
